Push or Poll
The newest devices use push technology to communicate to the server. The difference is access to real time data versus the traditional store and forward approach. While both function seamlessly with our software solutions there are differences:
Push
- 'Pushes' data to the Server upon each transaction
- Employees have access to real time data
- Minimal interference with corporate firewalls
- No static IP address is required
Poll
- Data is stored locally until an external server requests it
- You schedule the frequency of when data is polled
- Requires a static IP address for each piece of hardware
